Luca is a guitar player who, in the last two decades, has explored a variety of guitar techniques and music styles ranging from jazz to rock, Latin to African, and Italian to French folk music. He also plays the mandolin, the bouzouki, the balalaika, the ukulele and the timple, a five-stringed instrument from the Canary Islands.
Luca started playing the trumpet at seven but switched to the guitar at age 15 when he decided to form a rock band with friends. At 18 years old, he went on to study music at the Music Academy of Lausanne in Switzerland. After graduating in the year 2000, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the United States, where he started his career as a Jazz guitarist. In 2006, he moved to Chicago and that is when he was introduced to many different ethnic musical styles, including Italian Folk Music, French Cabaret, Latin Jazz and African Music. Luca has played with countless bands throughout the years, but the most recent and successful projects were with “I Monelli”, “In Vino Veritas”, “L'ultima Goccia” and “Cinzano Jazz Band”. |
